In the hyper-pressure cooker of a Premier League football club, a data-driven new Head of Recruitment (the first female head of football in the top tier), an old-school scout, and a morally-flexible negotiator must navigate a vengeful fan culture, a phantom owner, and their own incompetence, to survive the relentless chaos of the transfer window, and save the club from financial ruin and relegation.

In the 24/7, multi-billion-pound circus of modern football, the real drama doesn’t happen on the pitch; it happens in the back offices, executive minivans, and frantic group chats of the transfer window.
SILLY SEASON is a sharp, satirical workplace comedy set at Westminster Wanderers, a perennially “nearly-there” Premier League club. While TED LASSO explored heart and optimism, and THE THICK OF IT exposed political incompetence, SILLY SEASON merges the two, delivering an absurd and cynical look at the desperate executives fighting for relevance in a sport now dominated by state-owned clubs and billionaire playboys.
It’s a story where a teenager’s Instagram following is as important as his goal-scoring record, where a rumour from a fan-influencer can be more powerful than a manager’s decision, and where the fate of a club rests not on a last-minute goal, but on a last-minute digital signature on deadline day.
