Why I'm studying AI

Twenty years as a screenwriter and playwright means twenty years of building worlds, structuring narrative, and communicating with an audience that takes every word literally. A responsibility where structure, clarity, and knowing what to leave unsaid aren't stylistic flourishes, they're the entire job. That discipline turns out to be a genuinely unusual advantage when directing an AI. Prompting is fundamentally a writing craft before it's a technical one, it's best practices lay not in understand manuals and mechanics, but clear and concise communication, and most people approaching it arrive from neither background.

That advantage extends beyond language into practice. Prior to this, I worked as creative support for a development team, mapping out projects, thinking first as the end user, and identifying needs, niches, and potential problems in software and applications before they became expensive to fix. My role spanned every creative stage, from brainstorming through testing to marketing. That same instinct, an appetite for shaping web and app products from a user's perspective, gives me a genuine edge in communicating with and directing AI systems. It also means I no longer need a development team to act on that instinct. I can now put that creative hunger to the test directly, at a speed that simply wasn't possible before.

This page is where I document that journey: the courses I'm working through, the experiments along the way, and the actual projects I will build as I learn to collaborate with AI as both a creative partner and a development tool.
